Prior to forming Impulse Fashion, Steve worked as a Facilities Engineer and Contract Administrator with Bechtel Petroleum located near Bakersfield, California. While working for Bechtel and taking his business graduate courses, Steve developed a keen interest in international business, specifically in the country of Vietnam. After relocating to Downtown Los Angeles in 1996, Steve networked with local fashion designers to gain experience in the fashion and apparel industries.
In 1997, Steve successfully launched his first contemporary clothing line called “PREY” with his partner and designer Mayren Viray, which focused on novelty, fully-fashionable sweaters. Within their first season, “PREY” sweaters were sold to boutiques and department stores such as Fred Segal, Madison, Henri Bendel, Barneys New York, Intermix, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth, Bloomingdale, Macy’s, Hudson’s Bay and Lane Crawford.
In 2001, Steve traveled back to Vietnam to develop and cultivate his business relations and partnerships with apparel manufacturing factories.
